Indore, May 7: A massive fire broke out at a two-story structure in Swarn Bagh colony in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district, killing seven people. The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday.

According to fire officials, an initial examination discovered a short circuit in the electric metre, which caused automobiles parked close to catch fire. The fire then spread throughout the structure.

Soon after getting the information, police and firefighters arrived on the scene. After three hours of firefighting, the blaze was put out.

Five bodies were found in the building, and five people were injured. Those who were hurt were sent to the hospital for treatment. At the hospital, two more people died, bringing the total to seven. The identities of the deceased are still unknown.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took to Twitter and offered his condolences.

“I pray to God to give place to the departed souls at his feet and give strength to the family members to bear this deep sorrow and to give speedy recovery to the injured,” he tweeted.

He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakhs each for kin of the deceased in the incident along with ordering a probe into the incident and strict action against those found to be negligent.
