New Delhi, March 9: Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina praised her Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi on Wednesday for rescuing nine of her country’s residents from war-torn Ukraine.
Since Russia attacked Ukraine two weeks ago, India has rescued trapped individuals, especially students, from numerous other countries, including Pakistan, Nepal, and Tunisia, as part of its ‘Operation Ganga’ evacuation effort.
After Russia proclaimed a temporary ceasefire from 10 a.m. on Tuesday, India began evacuating its stranded citizens from Ukraine’s Sumy to Poltava under ‘Operation Ganga’ (Moscow time). The ceasefire was implemented in order to build humanitarian corridors in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Mariupol.
