Ranchi, April 1: JMM MLA and the ‘bahu’ of Jharkhand’s first family Sita Soren is set to meet Governor Ramesh Bais to raise issues of corruption in Jharkhand.
“I am to meet the Governor of Jharkhand at 2 PM (Friday) to raise my voice to protect water, forest, and land in Jharkhand besides to raise the issue of corruption in Jharkhand. Join me in this fight,” Sita Soren tweetted.
Her elder daughter Jaishree, close aide Birsa Handa and two others will accompany her to the Raj Bhavan. But the timing of her meeting indicates everything is not right in the JMM, the government, and the Shibu Soren family. Sources close to her confided that she requested an appointment with the Governor early in the morning.
A vernacular daily claimed that JMM patriarch Shibu Soren has been intimated about her alleged anti-party activities. It has been alleged that some leaders have complained that Sita Soren and the party’s Borio MLA Lobin Hembrom are in touch with the BJP to dislodge the Hemant Soren government. Sources close to her said that she rejected the allegations and vowed to fight against such political insinuations against her.
She is the widow of Durga Soren and bhabhi of chief minister Hemant Soren. But she has been critical of some of the policies of the government and did not hesitate to criticize them in unequivocal terms.
In December last year, she had alarmed the government towards rampant corruption in the bureaucracy and demanded action against corrupt officials. She did not hesitate against holding demonstrations against her own government.
While holding the post of the general secretary of the JMM she once said that the party that his father-in-law had raised and nourished has been grabbed by dishonest people. She formed Durga Sena to carry the political ideology and legacy of her politician husband who unfortunately died very young.
