New Delhi: National Security Adviser Ajit Doval has openly challenged the credibility of foreign media reports, particularly those from the New York Times, regarding Operation Sindoor—India’s recent military operation against Pakistan. Speaking at the 62nd Convocation of IIT Madras on Friday, Doval demanded proof of any damage claimed to have occurred on the Indian side, daring critics to produce “even one image.”

Precision of Operation Sindoor Defended

During his address, Doval praised India’s technological advancements and highlighted the indigenous capabilities involved in Operation Sindoor. “We have to develop our indigenous technology. Mention of Sindoor was made here. We are really proud of how much of indigenous content was there… We decided to have nine terrorist targets in the criss-cross of Pakistan, not in border areas. We missed none. We hit nowhere else except that. It was precise to the point where we knew who was where. Entire operation took 23 minutes,” he said.

Doval Takes Aim at Foreign Media Coverage

Criticizing international coverage of the operation, Doval specifically called out the New York Times for suggesting Pakistani retaliation had caused damage in India. “You tell me one photograph that shows any Indian damage done… They wrote things, New York Times… but the images showed 13 air bases of Pakistan before and after 10th May,” he said.

Doval continued, “Foreign press said that Pakistan did this and that… You tell me one photograph, one image, which shows any damage to any Indian (structure), even a glass pane having been broken… The images only showed 13 air bases in Pakistan before and after 10th May, whether it was in Sargodha, Rahim Yar Khan, Chaklala… I am only telling you what the foreign media put out on the basis of images.”

Details of Operation Sindoor

Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, was India’s response to a Pakistan-backed terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives. The Indian Air Force carried out precision strikes on nine high-value terror hubs deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including Jaish-e-Mohammad’s headquarters in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s key base in Muridke.

In retaliation, Pakistan attempted drone and missile strikes against India, all of which were successfully intercepted by Indian air defense systems. The escalation culminated in decisive strikes by India on 11 Pakistani air bases, marking one of the most significant cross-border operations in recent years.
