Jamshedpur, Oct 4: Manish Agarwal, 29, who has gone missing from Adityapur since September 23 continues to keep the police guessing about his whereabouts.
A special investigation team (SIT) which has been set up to trace out the youth is now working on the suicide angle for the missing youth.
Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Chandil, Sanjay Kumar Singh who is heading the SIT said the youth in question might have committed suicide.
“From Manish’s laptop and talks with his friends, it was found that he was searching methods of suicide since few days before he went missing on September 23. We have, therefore, started looking into the suicide angle behind his disappearance, ” said Singh.
The SIT head stated that as during investigation Manish was seen last time while getting down from an auto-rickshaw close to Kharkai river, they tended to assume that he must have taken a plunge in the river for the suicide.
“We are, therefore, carrying out a search in both Kharkai and Subarnarekha rivers for the body. The SIT had on Monday gone over to Ghatsila while searching the body in the Subarnarekha, but could not find it in the swollen river, ” said the SDPO.
According to Singh, Manish is suffering from bone TB for the past one year and finds it very painful in sitting and even sleeping due to the disease.
The only son of a Kandra-based trader, Debu Agarwal was scheduled to get married in November and engagement to this effect had already performed in July.
A senior official in the SIT said from the investigation it is learnt that the missing youth was not interested in the marriage due to his disease.
Meanwhile, health minister Banna Gupta had on Monday visited the family members of the missing youth and assured them that the administration would trace Manish soon.
