MF AHMAD

Daltonganj, Feb 16: The situation in Palamu has now become normal after a dispute between two communities in Panki on Wednesday morning. It was followed by stone-pelting between the two sides which resulted in Section 144 being imposed in the area to control the situation.

“Daily wagers are out for wages and fear has given way to hope that life will be normal than what it is today,” said sources.

The inspector of police Panki circle AK Mahatha said no untoward incident has occurred and peace has been restored. Police vigil and patrol both are intense and overwhelming.

Meanwhile, Chatra MP Sunil Kumar Singh appealed to both communities to hold peace intact and remain watchful of such elements in them who believe in fissiparous tendencies.

Speaking to lagatar24.com, the BJP MP said, “I was in flight for Gujarat on Wednesday when I was informed about the sad episode at Panki.”

“I am here in Gujarat to deliver a lecture on the orientation of the newly elected legislators in the Gujarat Vidhan Sabha today but I am pushing forward people to initiate the peace process at Panki,” said the Chatra MP.

Terming the episode as tragic for all especially the poor who suffer the most, the Chatra MP said they have asked the police to act tough who took the law into their hands and disrupted normal life like anything.

The MP further said the situation did come under control after many strenuous efforts by the civil and police administrations. Still, it is to be seen if Tuesday’s development at Panki in regard to the erection of the welcome gateway was duly attended to in terms of the maintenance of law and order.

The whole of the Panki assembly constituency of the Palamu district falls in the Chatra Lok Sabha constituency.
