Hathras, July 23: A truck in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras ran over a gathering of Madhya Pradesh-based Kanwar devotees in the early hours of Saturday, resulting in six fatalities.
The tragedy happened at roughly 2.15 am, according to Rajeev Krishna, Additional Director General of Police, Agra Zone. The Gwalior devotees were travelling from Haridwar to their home district when a truck ran them over.
“5 dead, 1 seriously injured after seven Kanwar devotees were moved down by a truck around 2.15 am today, at Sadabad PS in Hathras. They were en route to Gwalior from Haridwar with their Kanwars,” said Rajeev Krishna.
Later, one injured individual passed away while receiving treatment, bringing the incident’s death toll to 6.
The official stated that an investigation into the incident is ongoing and that they have learned more about the truck driver. “He will be nabbed soon,” the police official said.
