Hyderabad: Six individuals accused of vandalising Telugu actor Allu Arjun’s residence in Jubilee Hills were granted bail on Monday. The accused, who reportedly threw tomatoes and held placards while protesting, were apprehended on Sunday evening and produced in a Hyderabad city court.
Protest Details
According to DCP West Zone, a group claiming to represent the Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OU-JAC) stormed the actor’s residence, raising slogans and throwing tomatoes. One protester reportedly climbed the compound wall before the group was detained by the police.
Pushpa 2 Premiere Controversy
The protest stems from a tragic incident during the premiere of Allu Arjun’s film “Pushpa 2: The Rule” on December 4 at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre, where a stampede-like situation led to the death of a woman named Revathi and injuries to her son.
The chaos was allegedly triggered by Allu Arjun’s presence, as he waved to fans from the sunroof of his car, drawing massive crowds to the already congested area.
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy’s Statement
Earlier, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy addressed the mishap in the Assembly, revealing that the police had explicitly denied permission for any event at Sandhya Theatre due to safety concerns.
“Despite being warned about the location’s congestion and lack of proper entry or exit points, Allu Arjun attended the event, conducted a roadshow, and worsened the situation,” the Chief Minister said. He also described how police officials intervened during the stampede to control the crowd, ultimately forcing the actor to leave.
Legal Repercussions
Allu Arjun was briefly detained following the incident and later released on bail after furnishing a ₹50,000 bond. However, the ongoing controversy has continued to spark debates about crowd management at film events and the responsibilities of public figures.
