Dhanbad, Dec 11: The Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) has fixed Rs 5000 as the MBBS examination fee for the students of Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad from the current academic sessions 2022-23. This amount is the highest among all other medical colleges in the state.

BBMKU Examination Board at its meeting held on Friday decided to increase the present examination fee (Rs 3000) by Rs 2000 (total of Rs 5000) from the current academic session.

SNMMCH principal Dr Jyotiranjan Prasad, when contacted today, admitted that BBMKU has fixed the new examination fee.

“It was unanimously decided at the meeting of all deans including the dean of science, dean of arts and dean of medicine of the university under examination controller Prof SK Baranwal. As the cost of external visits and evaluations has increased, so the university has increased the exam fee too,” said the principal.

After this, now the MBBS students of SNMMCH would have to pay the highest examination fee in comparison to the other four state-owned medical colleges including Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) Jamshedpur, Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital (PJMCH) Dumka, Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) Hazaribag and Medinirai Medical College Hospital (MMCH) Palamu.

While BBMKU has set the highest fee, Kolhan University, Chaibasa has kept the lowest fee of Rs 2000 for MGMMCH Jamshedpur.

Vinoba Bhave University (VBU) Hazaribag has set the examination fee for SBMCH Hazaribag at Rs 3000. College principal Dr SK Singh said that besides Rs 3000, a student has to pay Rs 100 as a registration fee.

Sido Kanhu Murmu University (SKMU) Dumka has also pegged the examination fee to around Rs 3500 for PJMCH. Principal Dr Arun Kumar Choudhary said that the institution’s administration has no role in fixing the examination fee. It is the concerned university that decides on the issue while keeping the remuneration on the external examiner, and evaluation cost of answer books. “University fixes the fee and college asks the students to pay it online to the university,” he said.

Nilamber Pitamber University, Palamu has also kept the fee at Rs 3000 for its affiliated medical college MMCH.
MBBS examination fee (highest to lowest):

College Fee
SNMMCH Dhanbad Rs 5000
PJMCH Dumka Rs 3500
SBMCH Hazaribag Rs 3000+100
MMCH Palamu Rs 3000
MGMMCH Jamshedpur Rs 2000
