Dhanbad, Nov 26: Dr. Laxman Hansda, assistant professor in the surgery department of Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad, died of cardiac arrest during treatment at the medical college hospital.
Hospital authorities said that Dr. Hansad (57) was admitted in an unconscious condition at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. But during the course of treatment, he died from heart failure in the evening.
Dr Hansda, the resident of Saraikela Kharsawan district had started his career as senior resident at MGMMCH Jamshedpur in 2005 and became assistant professor in surgery department at PMCH Dhanbad in 2011. He had then joined the then Patliputra Medical College Hospital Dhanbad (now SNMMCH) in 2011.
Medical college official sources said Dr Hansda completed his MBBS from Magadh Medical College, Gaya and PG from Darbhanga Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in 1999. In 2000 he was appointed medical officer by the health department at Manoharpur primary health centre (PHC) in 2000. His wife, Dr. Asha Tuti, is at present posted at Potka (East Singhbhum) as the medical officer.
Medical college’s sources said his health condition suddenly got worse at his Saraidhela based residence. His wife got him admitted at the hospital. Principal of SNMMCH Dr Jyoti Ranjan, Superintendent Dr. Arun Kumar Barnbal and senior teachers of the institution have expressed deep condolences over the demise of Dr Hansda.
SNMMCH Teachers Association’s President Dr DP Bhushan while expressing grief over the death of Dr Hansda said that he was very popular among faculty members as well as students at the hospital. Moreover, he was considered an outstanding football player in Jamshedpur before joining the medical profession.
Dr Hansda has left behind an 18 years old son and11 years old daughter.
