Mumbai, August 28: Sonia Gandhi, a senior leader of the Congress party, will attend this week’s INDIA bloc meeting in Mumbai, where the opposition coalition’s logo will be unveiled, the president of the party’s Maharashtra unit, Nana Patole made the announcement on Monday.
Prominent members of the anti-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bloc—which includes more than two dozen parties—will meet in a luxurious hotel in suburban Mumbai on August 31 and September 1 for their third meeting after initially uniting on the same platform in Patna in June.
In a statement to reporters, Patole said, “Sonia Gandhi will attend the INDIA alliance meet in Mumbai.” In addition to discussing their plans for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, he said opposition leaders will also unveil the alliance’s official logo at the meeting.
The bloc’s name, Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), was finalised at its second meeting, which was held in Bengaluru in July after its first meeting in Patna in June.
The coalition was created with the intention of challenging the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which is led by the BJP, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
