Ranchi, April 26: A Safe and Responsible Migration Initiative Centre was inaugurated at West Singhbhum on Tuesday by the Labor Superintendent of the district for the safe and responsible migration of migrant workers. This centre will work under the aegis of the District Labor and Employment Office under the supervision of the District Labor Superintendent and Employment Officer in the form of a District Level Support Cell.
The centre is to work toward identifying inter-state migrants and their families in West Singhbhum so that the social security of such workers and their families can be ensured. This work will be done in coordination with the Deputy Commissioner and other officers. Along with this, the facility of registration of workers and their families will also be provided at the centre. The administration has also planned to organise camps for them from time to time.
Notably, the first SRMI centre of the state was launched in Gumla on April 20, 2022. Now the SRMI centre has been started in West Singhbhum. Apart from these two districts, an SRMI centre will soon be set up in Dumka.
Apart from other officers of the district administration, members of the Technical Support Unit (TSU) of SRMI located at State Labor Institute and Shramik Mitra of the district were also present during the programme.
