Mumbai: After a significant drop on Monday, the Indian stock market bounced back strongly on Tuesday. The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex rose by over 400 points, crossing the 78,000 mark, while the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty climbed by more than 150 points. Sensex was trading at 78,420.29 with a gain of 450 points, and Nifty surged 152.85 points to reach 23,768.90.

Out of the 30 listed stocks on the Sensex, 27 were trading in the green, while three remained in the red. Notable losers included Zomato, TCS, and Bajaj Finserv. On the other hand, top gainers included Titan, Adani Ports, Reliance, Asian Paints, and IndusInd Bank.

On Monday, news of the Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) entering India caused panic among investors, leading to a sharp decline in the stock market. Sensex fell by over 1,200 points to close at 77,964.99, while Nifty dropped 388.70 points to settle at 23,616.05. This decline resulted in an estimated loss of ₹9 lakh crore for investors.
