Ranchi, Feb.17: A child in conflict with law attempted suicide inside the observation home in Dumardaga.
“The boy consumed phenyl. He was frustrated with atrocities being perpetrated against him by a section of boys inside the observation home. After the incident came into the knowledge of the observation home authority, they admitted the boy at RIMS,” an insider said.
A police official at Sadar police station confirmed the incident saying the incident took place on Tuesday night.
“We do not have official information regarding the incident. However, after getting the information we verified the fact from our level and came to know today,” the official said.
The observation home is regularly hogging the limelight for the wrong reasons. A few days ago there was a clash between two groups of boys kept there. Earlier during a surprise check police recovered several prohibited items from the observation raising concern over the security of boys kept there.
