New Delhi: On Friday, August 2, the Supreme Court criticized the National Testing Agency (NTA) for the “flip-flops” in its handling of the NEET-UG 2024 exam. The court emphasized that such inconsistencies in a national examination are detrimental to students’ interests.

While delivering its verdict on the controversy surrounding allegations of paper leaks and other irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 exam, the Supreme Court opted not to cancel the examination. However, it highlighted significant deficiencies in the NTA’s structural processes and urged immediate rectification.

The Supreme Court stated that an expert committee must address and correct the flaws within the exam system to prevent future issues. The judgment underlined that the existing deficiencies cannot be tolerated, as they affect the betterment of students.

Moreover, the court called upon the Centre to resolve these issues within the year to ensure they do not recur in subsequent exams. Despite the controversies, the Supreme Court found no systemic breach in the NEET-UG 2024 papers, noting that the leaks were confined to Patna and Hazaribagh.

This is an ongoing story, and further details are awaited.
