Ranchi, Aug.11: Jharkhand rural development department suspended chief engineer Virendra Ram, who is lodged in Birsa Munda Central Jail for laundering of illegally earned money, knocked the door of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) special court for his bail.
He filed a petition through his advocate and hearing on the petition is expected tomorrow. His petition surfaced after the court rejected the anticipatory bail petitions of his father Genda Ram and wife Raj Kumari Devi.
On February 22, the ED had arrested engineer Ram in the disproportionate assets case. A day before this, on February 21, the ED had raided his 24 locations and recovered documents related to investments worth in tune of crores in several cities of the country besides jewellery paper of Rs 1.5 crores.
