The T20 World Cup will start from October 17. The International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have been granted permission by the UAE government to allow 70 percent of the spectators during the World Cup. The T20 World Cup is to be held in Dubai from October 17 to November 14.
ICC Acting CEO Jeff Allardyce has said in his statement that we are grateful to the UAE government and the government of Oman for providing the entry and security of spectators during the T20 World Cup. We want the fans of all the 16 countries participating in this tournament to enjoy this game.
At the same time, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has said, “I am happy that the T20 World Cup will be played in the presence of spectators in UAE and Oman. We are thankful to the UAE and the government of Oman for allowing fans to come to the stadium. The sale of tickets for the matches has started. I request him to follow all protocols for entering the stadium.
“The ICC and event hosts BCCI have worked closely with host authorities to ensure fans can be welcomed in a safe environment and COVID 19 protocols will apply at all venues,” an ICC statement said.
The first match of the T20 World Cup will be played between Oman and Papua New Guinea in Muscat on October 17. Bangladesh and Scotland will also clash on the same day. At the same time, the first match of Super-12 between Australia and South Africa will be held in Abu Dhabi on 23 October. India will play its first match against Pakistan on 24 October in Dubai.
