Virudhunagar, Oct 17: In two separate explosions that tore through firecracker factories in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu, on Tuesday, as many as nine people were killed, according to police officials.
As per the Fire and Rescue department, the first explosion occurred at a firecracker manufacturing plant near Sivakasi in the Virudhunagar district, eliciting a prompt response from firefighting teams.
Another explosion occurred in a different unit located in Kammapatti village within the same district.
Additional investigation is still in progress.
