Jamshedpur, April 28: Tata Steel has commenced the sales of Tata Ferroshots from its Jamshedpur Steel Plant.
The first consignment of products was flagged-off last evening by Rajiv Mangal, Vice President, Safety, Health and Sustainability.
The product is basically granulated pig iron manufactured using state-of-the-art metal granulation technology. The process of manufacturing Tata Ferroshots is eco-friendly and safe.
Tata Ferroshots was first commercially launched by Tata Steel in 2016 from its Kalinganagar plant and over a million tonnes of the product has been sold in the market since its inception.
The product has been successfully utilised in electric arc furnaces, induction furnaces, cupolas, basic oxygen furnaces and foundries as a replacement for pig iron, scrap or DRI.
Its inherent properties lead to better yield, higher productivity and lower energy costs which have helped to establish it as a product of choice for the secondary steel making industry.
With this new facility, Tata Steel will now be able to deliver the product from two sites, i.e., Kalinganagar and Jamshedpur, which will enable it to strengthen its presence in the market.
Notably, the Tata Steel group is among the top global steel companies with an annual crude steel capacity of 35 million tonnes per annum.
It is one of the world’s most geographically diversified steel producers, with operations and commercial presence across the world.
