Tata Steel Foundation, West Bokaro felicitates meritorious students of 2021-22 Matric exam

Ramgarh, Aug 30: Tata Steel Foundation, West Bokaro Division organized a special felicitation program on Monday to encourage the students who have performed well in the 2021-2022 matriculation examination.

The chief guest in this award ceremony was Ramgarh Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey, who along with the General Manager of Tata Steel West Bokaro Division, Anurag Dixit, jointly lit the lamp.

West Bokaro Division of Tata Steel had conducted pre-matric coaching (PMC) classes for 997 students from peripheral villages of its operations in the year 2021-22.  Out of a total of 997 students, 386 students appeared in the annual secondary board examination, out of which all 386 students (100%) passed the examination.

This is the fourth consecutive year and for the sixth time in the last seven years that PMC students have secured 100% results. 97 out of 386 students (25.13%) passed with distinction in the exam.

Tata Steel Foundation is running these classes for the students of government and private schools since 2012 in the leasehold areas of West Bokaro Division. The objective of running this pre-matric coaching class is to provide quality tuition in English, Maths and Science to poor students. The total number of teachers at a centre is five – two teachers for classes VI to VII and three for classes VIII-X.

These classes were started in 2012-13 with 378 students across 7 centres, especially for poor students who cannot afford private tuition classes to improve their studies. Pre-matric coaching classes are being conducted in two parts from class VIII to X and preparatory classes are being conducted for classes VI to VII.

The program was conducted by Keshav Ranjan, Unit Head, TSF, West Bokaro.  On this occasion, Mahesh Prasad, President, National Colliery Mazdoor Union, West Bokaro, Chandramani Devi, Chief, Mandu, Rajesh Patel, Chief, Quarry AB, BV Sudhir Kumar, Chief, Coal Beneficiation and other officers of the division, union office bearers, Representatives, teachers and students were present.
