Jamshedpur, April 8: Tata Steel organised the closing ceremony of the Zero Toppling Campaign (Feb-2-March 31, 2022) in a virtual mode last evening.
The campaign was run to focus on the cranes, dumpers and mobile equipment related safety incidents with the objective to eliminate such incidents in the company’s operating units, with the aim to eliminating toppling incidents.
The virtual closing ceremony was graced by the vice-president (Safety Health & Sustainability), Sanjiv Paul and vice-president TQM and engineering and projects, Avneesh Gupta. Officers, employees and vendor partners also joined virtually.
In his address, Avneesh Gupta expressed concerns about the recent spate of crane-related incidents. He appreciated the efforts taken by employees by way of specific interventions, besides stressing on the need to continuously sensitise our employees and drivers about the safety measures and precautions to be taken.
He also emphasised on the need for focusing on construction sites and operating units- where site conditions change day by day. He further added that this should be taken as a concerted effort – and a new start of our safety journey toward achieving “Zero Harm” and “Zero Toppling Incidents”.
Sanjiv Paul stressed on the need for Zero Tolerance for any safety violations. He insisted on strict adherence to safety rules, standards and regulations and this could help in minimizing toppling incidents of mobile equipment.
He further added the importance of escalating issues and ensuring zero tolerance for any safety violation.
“Then only we would achieve our objective of “Zero Harm”, he expressed the company’s aspirations.
The virtual event drew the enthusiastic participation of more than 350 employees representing all locations of Tata Steel.
