Dhanbad, Aug 24: Tata Steel Jharia Division today under the supervision of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) organized a workshop at Bhelatand to discuss general safety in underground mines.
The workshop was chaired by Padarthi Balakrishna, director of the mechanical central zone of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS).
Sanjeev Kumar, head of Sijua Group of Tata Steel presented an overview of Sijua Colliery of Jharia Division along with its safety practices in all mining equipments and machines. Monaj Nayak, senior manager (maintenance) of Bhelatand Colliery and Rajeev Kumar, senior manager of Sijua Colliery presented general safety practices for the Drum Winder and Chair-Lift Riding System.
Koushik Sengupta, deputy director of mechanical (central zone) , DGMS, Sanjay Rajoria, general manager of Tata Steel Jharia Division and Mayank Shekhar, chief of Sijua Group also addressed the workshop.
Tata Steel Jharia Division officials said that after the workshop, a question-answer round was organized on the observations made after the safety inspection of Sijua Colliery. DGMS director Padarthi Balakrishna and deputy director Koushik Sengupta answered the queries made by the participants.
DGMS officials highly appreciated the Tata Steel Jharia Division for its initiative to promote general safety practices in mines.
Engineering service head Aman, senior area manager (maintenance) Amit Kumar Dutta and area manager of Sijua Colliery Prakash Gupta were also present in the workshop.
