Chatra, Aug 24: A youth identified as Shaligram Upadhyay was brutally murdered in the district on Thursday morning and the killers managed to flee from the spot. The body was recovered from a roadside hotel in an agriculture farmhouse in the Itkhori block. The police team reached on the spot soon after getting the information about the incident. The body was sent for postmortem to Chatra Sadar Hospital.
Sources said multiple injuries were seen on the body which indicates he was killed out of enmity. Police officials said they received information from local villagers after which they reached there and sent the body for postmortem. The police team collected shreds of evidence from the spot and first ascertained the identity of the slain youth.
Itkhori police station officer-in-charge Vinod Kumar and sub-inspector Shiv Prakash said the probe has started. They said the youth was identified as Shaligram Upadhyay of Dudhauri village under the Jori police station area.
Police are now trying to know as with whom he left the home and reached Itkhori. Police officials said they are not only gathering information from Upadhyay’s relatives but also taking the help of the technical cell to get his mobile call details.
