Tata Steel’s dismissed officer commits suicide by coming before goods train in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, July 8: A 50-year-old man, Vijay Kumar Nirala, on Saturday committed suicide by coming before a goods train under Jugsalai thana area.

Nirala who was a resident of Kadma was a dismissed officer of Tata Steel and was remaining in tense after his dismissal two months ago.

The police have recovered the body and sent it to the MGM medical college mortuary for postmortem after informing the family members.

Jugsalai thana OC Kunal Kumar said they had informed the railway police about the incident for necessary action, but as there was no immediate response from the railway police, they had to swing into action.

The OC said the deceased committed suicide at around 11 am and that the goods train driver was the first to know about the incident but by it was too late then.  He pointed out the deceased was waiting for the train and had jumped before it as it came closer.

The police officer said though no suicidal note as such has been recovered yet it is a case of suicide.

According to police, Nirala was posted in a senior position in the steel company’s Safety department and was found embroiled in a serious matter before being dismissed by the company.
