Hyderabad: In response to the severe flooding affecting Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has instructed the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) cadre to play an active role in relief operations. The directive follows ongoing heavy rains that have led to extensive flooding, landslides, property damage, and disruptions to daily life across the state.
During a teleconference with party leaders and activists, Naidu emphasized the importance of immediate action to mitigate the impact of the floods. He highlighted the party’s historical commitment to assisting the public, both in and out of power, by utilizing their own resources when necessary.
The Chief Minister urged TDP members, particularly those in the Krishna River basin, to ensure that all possible support is extended to affected communities. He stressed that if additional government assistance is needed, it should be promptly communicated to the relevant authorities.
Naidu also instructed all party MPs, ministers, and MLAs to conduct on-ground visits and participate actively in the relief efforts. A review of their involvement will be conducted soon to assess their contributions.
Reflecting on past experiences, Naidu recalled how the TDP’s effective response during the Hud Hud cyclone in Visakhapatnam positively impacted the party’s standing in subsequent elections. He urged party activists to remain on the ground for the next three days to provide support.
On the 30th anniversary of his first term as Chief Minister, Naidu acknowledged the sacrifices made by party leaders and activists, expressing satisfaction that 93% of pensions have been distributed despite the challenging weather conditions.
The recent floods have claimed at least eight lives due to flooding and landslides. In response, disaster relief teams and police have moved residents from low-lying areas to safety and rescued approximately 80 individuals from various locations.
