Teenager killed, man grievously injured in road mishap at Seraikela

Jamshedpur, Oct 25: A 17-year-old youth was killed on the spot and a middle-aged man was seriously injured when a bike they were riding on rammed at a divider in Seraikela-Kandra road under Seraikela Thana area at the wee hours on Wednesday.

The one who was killed was identified as Rohit Banta, a resident of Nuagaon in Seraikela and the injured was identified as Deepak Gagrai, a resident of the same village.

Deepak Gagrai who has sustained a grievous head injury has been admitted to the Seraikela Sadar Hospital where he is struggling for his life.

The duo were riding back to their village from a fair organised on the occasion of Dussehra in Seraikela past midnight when the mishap took place.

Though the mishap took place past midnight, the mishap victims lay in a pool of blood till the early morning. By the time a police party rescued the victims, one of them had already died.

The police said that from the scene of the mishap site it appeared that Deepak Gagrai was riding the bike whereas Rohit was sitting pillion, adding that neither of the victims had put on the helmet.
