Hyderabad, Oct 22: In preparation for the Telangana Assembly elections of 2023, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released their first list of 52 candidates on Sunday.
T Raja Singh, whose suspension was lifted earlier today due to his derogatory comments against the Prophet Mohammed, is running from the Goshmahal constituency. From the Karimnagar constituency, Sanjay Kumar Bandi will enter the race.
Rajender Eatala will contest in two constituencies, namely Huzurabad and Gajwel. Eatala, who was previously associated with a different political party, will now face off against Telangana Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader KCR in the Gajwel constituency.
Sanjay Kumar Bandi, Bapu Rao Soyam and Arvind Dharmapuri are among the three candidates on the list who are currently serving as Members of Parliament. Soyam will run from Boath in the upcoming election, and Dharmapuri will run from the Korutla seat.
The names were confirmed at the BJP’s Central Election Committee meeting, which took place on Friday and was presided over by Jagat Prakash Nadda. The meeting was also attended by Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Earlier on October 15, the opposition Congress party unveiled its initial roster of 55 candidates. This list includes Anumula Revanth Reddy, who serves as the state unit chief for the party and is contesting from Kodangal. Additionally, Uttam Kumar Reddy, the former president of the Telangana Congress, is running from Huzurnagar.
The elections for the Telangana Assembly are scheduled for November 30 and the results will be declared on December 3. There are 35,356 polling stations in the state altogether; 14,464 of them are in urban areas and 20,892 are in rural ones.
