Srinagar: A 19-year-old migrant worker from Uttar Pradesh was injured in a terrorist attack in Tral, Jammu and Kashmir, on Thursday morning, marking the third attack on migrant workers in Kashmir within a week. The teenager, identified as Shubam Kumar from Bijnor, was shot at by terrorists in Batagund village, sustaining bullet wounds to his hand. He has been admitted to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
This latest attack follows a string of violent incidents targeting non-locals in the region. Just days earlier, on October 20, seven individuals, including a doctor and six migrant workers, were killed when terrorists opened fire at a construction site in the Sonamarg area of Ganderbal district. The victims were part of a team working on the Z-Morh tunnel project, which connects Gaganeer to Sonamarg. The Resistance Front (TRF), a group linked to the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for that attack.
Ongoing Targeted Violence
On October 18, another migrant worker, Ashok Chauhan from Bihar, was killed by terrorists in Shopian district. His bullet-riddled body was discovered by locals in the Waduna area of Zainapora, heightening concerns about the safety of non-local workers in the region. The spate of attacks has prompted increased security measures, but the situation remains tense.
