According to Variety, the 60-second teaser showed glimpses of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fabled ‘Second Age,’ which takes place thousands of years before the events of ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’ books.
The series promises to transport viewers to a time when great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to grandeur and fell to ruin, hope was hung on the thinnest of threads, and one of Tolkien’s greatest villains threatened to engulf the entire globe in darkness.
According to ‘Variety,’ it features an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they face the long-feared return of evil to Middle-Earth.
These countries and characters are going to carve out legacies that will last long after they are gone, spanning the Misty Mountains, gorgeous woodlands of the elf capital of Lindon, breathtaking island kingdom of Nmenor, and the uttermost reaches of the world.
The teaser begins with a dialogue that fans of ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’ will recognise.
“Haven`t you ever wondered what else is out there? There`s wonders in this world beyond our wandering. I can feel it!”
Notably, Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video on September 2, with new episodes releasing every Friday.
