Ranchi: BJP State President Babulal Marandi has stirred controversy by alleging that a third liquor scam is being plotted in Jharkhand under the Hemant Soren government. In a statement on social media platform X, Marandi claimed that the current administration is conspiring to involve liquor mafias from Punjab and Haryana, following previous involvement of mafias from Chhattisgarh. He also alleged that the conspiracy is being orchestrated from Birsa Munda Jail.

Marandi accused the Hemant Soren government of being notorious for scams, corruption, and deceit. “The government, in its final months, is preparing for another massive liquor scam,” Marandi wrote, sharing a letter he had previously sent to the Chief Minister warning about the possibility of such fraudulent activities.

Election Funding Allegations

Babulal Marandi further alleged that the motive behind this scam is to amass black money for the upcoming elections. He claimed that by altering the liquor policy for the third time, the government is planning to raise illegal funds to distribute liquor during election campaigns. He added that despite having only two months left in office, the government is trying to award liquor shop contracts for the next three years to mafias from Punjab and Haryana, in exchange for hefty black money.

Concerns Raised in a Letter to the CM

Marandi mentioned a letter he had sent to Chief Minister Hemant Soren on September 1, suggesting that poor tribal women involved in liquor sales should be integrated into the government’s distribution system. However, he expressed disappointment that his suggestions were ignored.

Marandi also assured the public that if BJP comes to power, the proposed liquor policy would be scrapped, and strict action would be taken against the liquor mafias from Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Haryana, and the officials involved in the scam.
