Daltonganj, Mar 28: The sinister design of the three school dropouts of Ramanujganj under the Balrampur police station in Chhattisgarh was aborted by Jharkhand’s Garhwa police.
Garhwa SP Anjani Kumar Jha told lagatar24.com today that three school dropouts identified as Prince Gupta, Sameer Kushwaha and Rahul Mirdha (all from Ramanujganj under Balrampur police station in Chhattisgarh) had stolen a bike on the night of March 16 from Sonepura locality in the Garhwa town.
The bike belonged to Imtiayaz Rangsaaz. He lodged a complaint about bike theft with the Garhwa police station on March 18. Police swung into action following orders from the SP.
The Garhwa police got a tip-off about the planned sale of the stolen bike.
SP Garhwa, taking a prompt note of it, alerted the Chhattisgarh border Jharkhand Garhwa district’s police outpost at Godarmana.
The outpost police on the side of Jharkhand conducted a road check on March 27.
The stolen bike with the three riding it surfaced whom the police quizzed and they spilt all the beans.
The trio confessed to having stolen the bike and told the police that they were going to sell it for Rs. 30,000.
“The stolen bike stands recovered while the three arrested were remanded in judicial custody today in Garhwa,” said the Garhwa SP.
One of the arrested, Prince, has a criminal disposition. He was once caught under the NDPS Act.
“About Sameer and Rahul, police are trying to find out their antecedence,” said the SP.
The SP further found the bike parked at night outside the house unguarded or unprotected. They found it an easy target and decamped with the booty.
However, they had no inkling of Garhwa police tracking them and hence, were caught.
Garhwa has a similar border with two states Chhatisgarh and UP and thus, Garhwa district police have to remain on a live wire for transborder crimes.
