Deoghar, Sept 1: Atleast three persons have died and two have sustained injury due to lighting strike near Mathurapur railway station under Jasidih police station.
The deceased have been identified as Ahmad Sheikh, Karu Miyan and Laxman Mandal. All were locals vendors and were gathered there for hatiya (local hath or marketplace).
According to sources, the weather turned cloudy and it soon began to rain as they reached hath. They did not find any shelter so they resorted to taking shelter under a tree. However, a lighting strike on the tree ended up killing three, while two others were injured. The injured were brought to Deoghar Sadar Hospital for treatment.
