Lucknow, April 17: A top official stated that on Monday, the three attackers who shot gangster-politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf were transferred from the Prayagraj Central Jail to the Pratapgarh District Jail.

The relocation, according to the official, was made for administrative reasons.

The attackers, Lavlesh Tiwari (22), of Banda, Mohit alias Sunny (23), of Hamirpur, and Arun Maurya (18), of Kasganj, were detained shortly after the shootout outside the Prayagraj hospital, when police officers were accompanying the brothers for a medical examination on Saturday night.

According to officials, the trio was transported from Prayagraj around 12 noon and arrived in Pratapgarh at 2.10 p.m.

Atiq Ahmad’s other son is currently incarcerated in the Prayagraj Central Jail in Uttar Pradesh.
