New Delhi, May 10: Jyotiraditya M Scindia, the country’s civil aviation minister, has said that a delegation from the country’s aviation regulator, the DGCA will visit Ranchi and Hyderabad. The team will investigate the incident last week in which IndiGo workers refused to let a child with special needs to board a flight.

Scindia stated that he will personally investigate the situation and take action once it was widely publicised.

“Keeping the sensitive nature of the incident in mind, we have decided to conduct a fact-finding enquiry by a 3-member team under the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation). They will visit Ranchi and Hyderabad (place of stay of the family), and collect appropriate evidence within one week from today,” the minister today tweeted.

Earlier, he also said that there was zero-tolerance towards such behaviour.

“No human being should have to go through this. Investigating the matter by myself, post which appropriate action will be taken,” he said.

Notably, IndiGo refused to let a child with special needs board a flight with his family at the Ranchi airport last week. The airline said that the toddler was a danger to other travellers.

A group of doctors travelling on the same flight offered to provide full support to the child and his parents if any health episode occurred mid-flight, and other passengers rallied around the family, according to Manisha Gupta, a fellow passenger and witness to the incident, who described the incident on Facebook.

However, later on the CEO of Indigo expressed sorry for the incident and offered to purchase an electric wheelchair for the special needs youngster.
