Washington: Three students from Telangana lost their lives in a road accident in Florida, US, after the car they were travelling in crashed into a tree in Brevard County, with one of the deceased identified as N. Rahul from Navipet in Telangana’s Nizamabad district.
Rahul Was Travelling to Part-Time Workplace When Crash Occurred
According to local reports, Rahul had moved to the US around three months ago to pursue higher studies and was among the three students travelling to their part-time workplace when the accident took place. The crash occurred on Interstate 95 in the Palm Bay area of Brevard County, with reports citing the Florida Highway Patrol stating that the vehicle, a 2025 Hyundai Elantra, veered off the road, crashed into a tree, and caught fire.
Two Died at the Scene, Rahul Succumbed Later in Hospital
Two of the occupants died at the scene, while Rahul was taken to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Rahul’s father, Haribabu, said his son had completed his MS and had enrolled for a PhD at the University of South Florida while also seeking employment. He recalled that Rahul had spoken to his mother shortly before his friends arrived to pick him up for work, a call that turned out to be his last.
Identities of Other Two Students Not Yet Confirmed
The identities of the other two deceased students have not been immediately confirmed. The Telugu Association of North America is coordinating with US authorities to complete necessary formalities and facilitate the repatriation of the bodies.
Another Indian-Origin Student Died in Separate US Accident
In a separate recent incident involving an Indian-origin student in the US, 19-year-old Santa Cruz student Alli Renee Singh died after a car plunged off West Cliff Drive near Steamer Lane on August 13. Singh was not driving the vehicle and became trapped inside after it was submerged; rescue teams attempted to reach her, while the male driver escaped with minor injuries, according to a report.
