Ranchi: Parts of Jharkhand are expected to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light rainfallstarting February 19, according to the Ranchi Meteorological Centre. The weather department also predicted partial cloud cover across major parts of the state from Tuesday, with a rise in minimum temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celsiusover the next two days.
The minimum temperature across the state remained above 12°C in the past 24 hours, except for Chatra, which recorded 11.8°C. Baharagora in East Singhbhum district saw the highest minimum temperature at 18.4°C, while Ranchi registered 15.6°C, which is 2.8°C above normal.
Western Disturbance to Cause Weather Changes
According to Abhishek Anand, in-charge of the Ranchi Meteorological Centre, cloud cover will begin over parts of Jharkhand from Tuesday.
“Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light rainfall are likely over Jharkhand on February 19 and 20 due to the movement of a western disturbance eastwards and a north-south trough at lower levels,” he said.
The lightning activities and sporadic rainfall may persist in different parts of the state until February 23, the official added.
