New Delhi, Feb 3: In light of recent changes in leadership in Northern and Eastern Command, the Indian Army’s senior brass, including Chief of Army Staff Gen MM Naravane and all army commanders, are slated to conduct an operational review of the situation along the borders with China and Pakistan on Thursday.
The Northern Command, situated in Udhampur, has been handed over to Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, while the Eastern Army has been handed over to Lt Gen Rana Pratap Kalita. This is also Vice Chief of Army Lt Gen Manoj Pande’s first meeting.
The conference takes place at a time when India and China have held 14 rounds of Corps Commander-level discussions, with the 15th session set to take place soon.
Army commanders would be updated on the situation along the China border in the eastern sector, especially the activities of the People’s Liberation Army. Since April-May last year, India and China have been locked in a military standoff in eastern Ladakh after China’s unilateral assault.
