Daltonganj, Nov. 26: Latehar district administration is providing training to youths in tourism job opportunities in a fresh and innovative move. Efforts are being made in Netarhat which comes under Mahuadanr sub division and often feels the brunt of Maoists than other parts of the district.
Latehar tourism under Latehar administration is exploring this idea and has arranged a month-long training session for 100 boys and girls in Netarhat. This initiative is in collaboration with a Mumbai based company called PFACT.
The training will entail an expenditure worth around Rs. 22.50 lakh which will be tackled by Latehar tourism, informed officer Shivendra Singh.
Sources said that there is an utter lack of well-groomed tourist guides at the Palamu Tiger Reserve, Betla National Park and other tourist locations in Netarhat.
This training aims at readying at least a fleet of the tourist guides. The training kick started on November 22.
Rajeev Gupta, a senior official of the PFACT said, “We have shortlisted 100 students who are being given 30 days of training in 6 parameters of tourism, beginning from guide to hospitality sector to life guard. Our theme is TEAM. It stands for tourism, education, awareness and me.”
Gupta further said that he isn’t sure that all the trained students will get the job but at the same time, these 100 will be in a position to explore job avenues for themselves all across the country.
After the training, these youth will be able to pursue a career as tourist guides or a lifeguard at any water sport.
