New Delhi: The Delhi Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory for Wednesday, August 6, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public address during the inauguration of Kartavya Bhavan. The advisory warns of major traffic restrictions and diversions between 5pm and 9pm around India Gate (C-Hexagon), Kartavya Path, and nearby areas.

Restricted Routes and Parking Bans

Motorists have been advised to avoid key stretches such as Janpath, Mansingh Road, Maulana Azad Road, Rajender Prasad Road, and Jaswant Singh Road roundabouts, as traffic will be disrupted due to the event. No halting or parking will be permitted on these roads, and any vehicles found in violation will be towed to the traffic pit near Bhairon Mandir, Bhairon Marg, and prosecuted.

Commuter Advice and Travel Planning

Traffic personnel have recommended using public transport to reduce congestion and ensure a smoother commute. Those heading to ISBTs, railway stations, or airports are advised to plan ahead and allocate extra travel time. Commuters should also avoid Pragati Maidan tunnels leading toward India Gate and follow diversions posted via Delhi Traffic Police’s social media.

High Congestion Expected During Peak Hours

Given the usual evening rush and thousands of vehicles traversing key radials like Ashoka Road, Tilak Marg, Purana Quila Road, Zakir Hussain Marg, Shahjahan Road, and Akbar Road, travel delays are expected. The advisory calls for public cooperation in following traffic regulations during the restricted window.
