Ranchi, July 8: A section of tribals today staged demonstration in front of the BJP state headquarters in Harmu to protest against the uniform civil code (UCC) and incident of urination by a BJP supporter on a tribal youth in MP.

Before they staged a demonstration, they assembled at Harmu ground and marched to the BJP state headquarters.

They raised slogans like ‘Babulal Istifa Do’, ‘Adivasiyon Ka Shoshan Band Karo’, and “Modi Teri Tanashahi Nahi Chalegi.’

A tribal leader Prem Shahi Munda said: “Uniform Civil Code law will not work in the country because the tribal society has its own constitutional law. There is a customary tradition. CNT Act and SPT Act are applicable in the state. With the implementation of these laws, all these laws will become invalid.”

Central Sarna Committee President Ajay Tirkey said: “In Madhya Pradesh, a BJP supporter urinated on a tribal youth. The act has hurt tribal sentiment.  With the support of the BJP government, misdeeds are being done with children in the tribal society every day.”

Lakshmi Narayan Munda said that the real face of BJP has come to the fore with the incident of urination on a tribal in Madhya Pradesh.

The district administration had made elaborate arrangements to avoid any untoward incident during the protest. The BJP office was converted into a police cantonment before the arrival of the procession.
