Ranchi, Aug.7: Responding positively to a nationwide bandh call given by the Rashtriya Adivasai Ekta Parishad to protest against the uniform civil code (UCC) and Manipur violence, a section of tribal clad in their traditional dress today blocked Karamtoli Chowk in the Jharkhand capital.

A bandh supporter claimed that the duration of the bandh was two hours starting from 10.30 am. Officer-in-charge of Lalpur police station Mamta Kumari said the blockade duration was hardly 25 minutes and there was not much disturbance taking part in the protest.

“Number of protesters was hardly 60 and the duration was hardly 25 minutes. No FIR has been registered in this connection,” OC Kumari said.

Asked the OC, whether the blockade caused any traffic snarl in the city, OC Kumar said: “No, because due to rain traffic was limited”.
