New Delhi, Nov 22: Tripura Police and the Assam Rifles smashed a conspiracy in a massive operation against drug trafficking gangs, seizing 186 kg of cocaine and arresting one individual, according to the officials on Tuesday.
A team of police officers from the Sidhai police station and soldiers from the 29th Battalion of the Assam Rifles carried out a raid at the Hezamara hamlet in the Mohanpur subdivision of the West Tripura district in accordance with the information they had been provided.
Amalesh Pal, a resident of Kunaban and a member of the Madhupur police station, has been named as the accused. From his possession, the police seized 186 kg of semi-dry marijuana worth about 9 lakhs.

The police had registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (ND&PS) Act at the Sidhai Police Station.
“Based on specific input a joint raid was carried out by Sidhai PS along with 29 BN Assam Rifles at Hezamara and recovered approx. 186 kg semi-dry ganja (worth Rs.9 lakhs) and arrested one Amalesh Pal of Kunaban. An investigation under NDPS Act has been initiated”, West Tripura District Police tweeted.
