Washington, D.C.: In a groundbreaking move, US President-elect Donald Trump announced on Thursday that Susie Wiles, his campaign manager, will take on the role of White House Chief of Staff. This historic appointment makes Wiles the first woman to hold the position in the history of the United States.
“Susie Wiles just helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history, and was an integral part of both my 2016 and 2020 successful campaigns,” Trump stated, following his decisive election victory over Democratic contender Kamala Harris.
Describing the 67-year-old strategist as “tough, smart, innovative, and universally admired and respected,” Trump expressed his confidence in her abilities. “It is a well-deserved honour to have Susie as the first-ever female Chief of Staff in United States history,” he added.
Wiles, who worked alongside fellow campaign manager Chris LaCivita, is credited with playing a pivotal role in securing Trump’s recent electoral success. Trump also acknowledged Wiles in his victory speech, humorously referring to her as the “ice baby” and noting her preference for working behind the scenes.
Vice President-elect JD Vance lauded the appointment as “great news” and highlighted Wiles’ significant contributions to the campaign. “She will be a huge asset in the White House. She’s also just a really good person,” Vance said.
