Hyderabad: In a tragic road accident early Saturday morning, two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) from the Andhra Pradesh Intelligence Security Wing (ISW) lost their lives, while an Additional SP and a Head Constable sustained injuries. The incident occurred near Choutuppal on NH-65, around 4:50 am.

Victims Identified

The deceased have been identified as:

  • M Chakradhar Rao (57) from Goshamahal

  • J Shanta Rao (54) from Hayathnagar

The injured include:

  • KDMVR Prasad (58), Additional SP from Hydershakote

  • R Narasimha Raju (54), Head Constable from Kompally

Shanta Rao was a member of the Special Security Group responsible for Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s protection. The others were staff of the ISW.

Accident Details

The four officers were traveling in a Scorpio SUV from Vijayawada to Hyderabad to oversee routine firing and physical fitness tests for ISW personnel scheduled in Moinabad and Khairatabad.

“The vehicle, driven by Raju, rammed into a road divider and crossed over the median before colliding with an oncoming truck,” said Choutuppal ACP P Madhusudhan Reddy. “The two DSPs, seated in the middle row, died on the spot due to multiple injuries. The front-seat passengers were rescued and taken to a nearby private hospital.”

Condition of the Injured

AP Intelligence chief Mahesh Chandra Laddha confirmed that both the injured officers are out of danger and recovering.

Chief Minister’s Travel Plans

Despite the incident, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to depart for a six-day official visit to Singapore on Saturday evening from Shamshabad Airport.
