Two children drown in river Subarnarekha at Jamshedpur, one rescued

Jamshedpur, Oct 22:  Two minor boys drowned while one other was rescued as the three were taking a bath at the Babudih Ghat on the banks of river Subarnarekha under Sidhgora police station on Friday afternoon.

The drowned children have been identified as 17- year old Nitin Kumar and Ashish Kumar, also of the same age. They were students of class X at a Kashidih-based school.

Locals present at the spot tried to save them soon after the incident but couldn’t, as they got carried away by strong water currents.

Sources said that local people immediately informed the police who then rushed to the spot and started a search operation with the help of divers.

The drowned children could not be traced till the time this story was written.

Police informed that the NDRF team has been called from Ranchi and they were expected to arrive at the spot late in the afternoon.
