Ranchi, Feb 3: Two corona infected patients admitted at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) lost their lives during the treatment due to co-morbid situations.

According to the doctors, Satnarayan Oraon (67), a resident of Ramgarh, was admitted in the NTC ward of RIMS. He died due to the serious condition of brain haemorrhage and also had corona infection.

At the same time, Jonjhwa Devi (44), a resident of Piparwar, lost her life due to Chronic Respiratory disease. She also had corona infection.

Head of critical care at RIMS Dr Pradeep Bhattacharya said that both the patients who died were co-morbid and were suffering from different ailments and also had the Covid infection. Their death is not due to the corona infection as no trace of lung infection due to Covid was found.

“One had a serious condition of brain haemorrhage and the other had chronic respiratory disease. There are very few cases of Covid deaths during the third wave of the infection and mainly the deaths are happening due to co-morbidity,” he said.

At present, 28 Covid infected patients are being treated in RIMS. Out of these, 5 patients are admitted in the NTC ward while 9 are in Dengue ward. 10 patients are in Medicine D-II ward, 2 in Surgery D-II ward and 1 each in Pediatric-II ward and Media Surgery ward.
