Ramgarh, Aug 4: Two-day capacity-building workshop was inaugurated by Dr Urmila Singh, Principal cum Regional Officer of the school at DAV Barkakana premises on Friday.

A total of 250 teachers from 12 schools are participating in this workshop.  This workshop has been organized for teachers teaching in middle and secondary classes.  This workshop is specially organized on the subjects of English, Mathematics, Social Science, Commerce and Science.  The program was started by welcoming the school principal, singing the DAV song and lighting the lamp.

The first topic of this workshop was Competency-based education which was presented by the Principal herself in a very attractive manner.  In her one-and-a-half-hour lecture, she told the present teachers what is the meaning of Competency-Based Education and why it has become so necessary in today’s time. The teachers were also made aware that 50 per cent of questions will be merit-based in class X and XII examinations in the upcoming years.  Therefore, in today’s time, there is no importance of rote learning.  Teachers will have to spend time with the children as well as train them thoroughly so that they can solve the question paper effectively.

The second session of the program was on the topic of health and wellness.  The three teachers of the school, Kumari Arpana, ANB Tirkey and Anamika Sengupta kept all the teachers engaged through quizzes in a very attractive manner.  The purpose of this presentation is to make children aware of their health, which includes not only physical but also mental and social health.  After that, all the teachers left for their capacity enhancement in the designated classrooms of their assigned subjects.
