Ranchi, Jan.25: A woman died while two sustained injuries in an incident of stone attack at Khadgarha bus stand under the Lower Bazar police station in Jharkhand capital.
The deceased has been identified as Lalita Devi while the injured has been identified as her husband and brother-in-law. All were residing in the bus stand premises.
Police are not in a position to give any conclusive statement explaining the reason behind the incident. The body has been sent for autopsy.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of concerned police station Sanjay Kumar confirmed the incident saying all were beggars. On the reason behind the incident, he said: “Primary investigation suggests the murder was the outcome of a fight among three as people residing in the area said that earlier they were also noticed indulging in fighting among themselves.”
Asked about the issue behind the fight, OC Kumar said: “Illicit relationship.” Asked to explain, he said: “Probe is going on.” Asked why others did not attempt to settle the dispute, OC Kumar said: “People did not take interest as fighting among themselves was their regular habit.”
In another incident, police recovered a male body from a place around 300m away from Sapphire International School on the border of Ranchi and Khunti district. Officer-in-charge of Tupudana police station, Rupa Singh, who rushed to the spot, confirmed the incident saying that ‘body was identified as of driver Maghia (28), a resident of Pandan Toli.’
On asking about the way adopted to commit murder, OC Singh said: “It appears that he was suffocated to death. We noticed injuries marks on eyes and legs.”
Probed further, OC Singh said: “The area where the body was lying is under the jurisdiction of Khunti, I have informed the Khunti police about the same to Khunti police for further probe.”
