New Delhi, April 8: Emine Dzhaparova, the first deputy foreign minister of Ukraine, will be visiting India for four days starting on Sunday. This will be the first official visit from the East European nation since the Russian invasion started last year.
Sanjay Verma, Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs, and Dzhaparova will hold talks.
It is anticipated that the deputy foreign minister of Ukraine would invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit.
Dzhaparova’s trip to India was announced by the MEA in a statement on Saturday.
“The First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova will be on an official visit to India from April 9 to 12,” it said.
According to the report, Dzhaparova and Verma will speak at which time they hope to discuss their respective countries’ relations as well as international topics of concern to both parties.
Dzhaparova will also meet with Meenakshi Lekhi, Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, and Vikram Misri, Deputy National Security Advisor.
Prime Minister Modi has had many conversations with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky since the war in Ukraine broke out in February of last year.
On October 4 of last year, during a phone call with President Zelenskyy, Modi declared that there can be “no military solution” and that India is prepared to support any peace initiatives.
