Three Indian Sailors Among 24 on Board
On Wednesday, another Palau-flagged tanker, MT Settebello, was attacked, resulting in the deaths of three of the 24 Indian sailors on board. UN Secretary-General’s spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, addressing the regular press briefing on Thursday, highlighted that the attack on the Settebello tanker had resulted in the deaths of several Indian sailors.
UN Backs IMO Chief’s Condemnation
Dujarric said the attack had been clearly condemned by the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization, and that the UN fully supports and endorses that condemnation. He was referring to a statement issued by IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez, who had expressed deep sorrow and strong condemnation over the attack on the Palau-flagged MT Settebello near the Oman coast.
